Parasite Wins Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards

The South Korean psychological thriller Parasite directed by Bong Joon-ho was the big winner at the Academy Awards in Los Angles Sunday. The film won for best picture, best international feature film, best original screenplay, and best director. Parasite is the first foreign language film to win the top prize in the history of the Oscars.

Renee Zellweger took home the best actress award for her performance as Judy Garland in Judy. Best actor was awarded to Joaquin Phoenix for his role as the Joker in the supervillain blockbuster Joker. The supporting actor Oscars went to Brad Pitt for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Laura Dern for Marriage Story. Both first time wins for the veteran actors.

The hostless ceremony was opened with a monologue from comedians Steve Martin and Chris Rock who highlighted the lack of diversity at the awards show. Cynthia Erivo’s performance in Harriet being the only acting nod to a person of color. Full list of winners below.
